Chickasha Breaks Ground on New Water Treatment Plant and Advances Retail and Industrial Growth

Chickasha continues to invest in the infrastructure and development projects needed to support long-term growth. Recent milestones include groundbreaking on a new water treatment plant, progress on a major retail center, and advancement of industrial opportunities near the municipal airport.

New Water Treatment Plant Under Construction

City officials held a groundbreaking ceremony in May for a new water treatment plant designed to meet Chickasha’s long-term needs. The facility is planned to produce 6 million gallons of water per day initially, with the ability to expand to 8 million gallons as demand grows. The plant will use a multi-step treatment process and include treated-water storage, a transmission pump station, and residuals handling facilities.

The project is being financed through long-term, low-interest funding from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. Officials say the new plant will improve reliability, provide greater operational flexibility, and support continued residential and commercial expansion.

Major Retail Center Moving Forward

Construction is underway on a approximately 73,000-square-foot retail development south of Interurban that will bring several national retailers to Chickasha, including T.J. Maxx, Burlington, Five Below, Ulta Beauty, and PetSmart. City leaders expect some of the stores to open by late 2026, creating new shopping options and local jobs.

Additional dining options such as McAlister’s Deli and Wingstop are also planned for the broader commercial area.

Airport Industrial Park and Manufacturing Interest

Near the Chickasha Municipal Airport, plans are advancing for a larger industrial park that could attract high-demand industries. KnightTek, a company specializing in lithium-ion battery safety technology, is expected to begin construction on a new facility in the first quarter of 2026. Separate announcements have highlighted potential power generation and data-center related opportunities in the same general area.

Six local manufacturers recently received Oklahoma Innovation Expansion Program grants totaling $282,000 to support expansion projects, reflecting ongoing private-sector investment in the community.
